Last week I was delighted to receive an e-mail from Amy Hirt, a ModStylist at ModCloth — my ultra favorite place in the e-commerce world, in case you hadn’t noticed! She offered me the chance to style an outfit for the Uniquely You Campaign, in which myself and other “fashion-forward” bloggers were asked to create an ensemble of our own, based around one pre-selected item, for the chance to be featured on the shop’s Polyvore page.
This provided the perfect opportunity for me to send a little love to my straight size followers out there. Though Big, Beautiful and Bold is geared toward the plus-size lady, I believe in beauty at every size. That’s honestly been my whole point from the get go — because whether you’re big, small, short or tall, every individual is different, and every individual has the right to feel comfortable and happy at a particular size. I really hope some of my S-L, 0-12 sized readers love this outfit as much as I do. Trust me, if I were straight size, I’d be all up in this combo.
So, this autumn/winter, I’m loving the fact that brands are embracing burgundy and mint once more. We saw a lot of these tones last year, and I’m thrilled because they’re two of my favorites! ModCloth’s “Mint Cute” dress is perfect to work with as it’s understated yet classy and quirky. I chose to surround it with deep burgundy and brown accessories (like this very Mod bag [so appropriate], golden jewelry and 1920’s-inspired hat) to keep it on the vintage meets 2013 hipster side of things. And of course, the classic denim jacket addition was a must, simply because I’m obsessed with denim jackets. Not to mention that leather/denim jackets juxtaposed with cloth sleeves are very trendy at the moment. And last but not least, a vintage lover can never go wrong with a good pair of seam tights — and these “Seams Like Love” ones were just beautiful. The heart pattern brings that touch of sexiness every woman wants in an outfit, while adding some warmth to survive the autumn chill.
Well, that’s a wrap for now. I hope you enjoy my Uniquely ME ensemble. Shop away!
